The Managing Critical Incidents for Institutions of Higher Education: A Whole Community Approach course provides higher education campus administrators, campus emergency management teams, and their community partners a forum to address the full-spectrum of emergency preparedness - prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery as it relates to critical incidents affecting college campus and places specific emphasis on the unique aspects and challenges associated with higher education institutions. Participants learn to effectively manage a critical incident by applying an all-hazards, multi-disciplinary, community approach based on the National Incident Management System's (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS). The course is delivered through a combination of lecture and team activities, and culminates with an instructor-led, role-play exercise customized to the community in which the course is delivered. This course is taught in partnership with The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
