The GA Department of Health Hospital Decontamination program is a 2-day course that provides students with the tools necessary to plan, set-up, and conduct patient decontamination. Day 1 includes classroom instruction on HAZMAT procedures and equipment needs in the hospital setting as well as hands-on time with the CBRN PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator).
Day 2 will provide participants with instruction on patient management, hands-on practice with full Level C PPE, and culminate in a ¾ day field response exercise. Participants are required to bring spare dry clothes and towels for Day 2 to allow for all to participate in deconning as a provider.
NOTE: All participants are required to bring a Level C suit (Chemical resistant suit, gloves, boots, or booties) and CBRN PAPR with (3) expired/training filters for use during the training. Instructors will be working with individuals using their facility equipment to allow for better understanding of the equipment.
