This course prepares participants to deliver the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training course.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the CERT Basic Training Course.
• Demonstrate the ability to present a portion of the CERT Basic Training Course (teachback).
• Communicate the core values of CERT. • Demonstrate classroom management techniques and the ability to reach all learners.
• Demonstrate effective teaching techniques including setting the environment, maximizing learning retention, conveying information, and assessing student progress.
• Model appropriate behavior as an instructor.

1.A referral from a CERT-sponsoring agency, typically a local EMA Direcor
2. If you are not a first responder, the CERT Basic Training is required.
3. For current first responders, FEMA EMI course IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will familiarize you with the CERT Program.
