Target Audience: Individuals activated during disasters, shelter support staff, first responders, healthcare providers, mental health providers, disaster volunteers, and emergency managers.
Description: The Disaster Mental Health Field Response Training is geared to provide basic information and skills that prepare disaster behavioral health responders to meet the practical and emotional needs of disaster survivors and the people who come to their aid.
Objectives:
- To identify the fundamental principles of the emergency response structure
- To compare standard mental health treatment with disaster mental health response
- To discuss the processes and interventions appropriate for disaster mental health response
- To construct a personal system of disaster self-care
- To practice skills learned through participation in a simulation event
