BACKGROUND:
Approximately 3000 propane fires and explosions are reported yearly. More than 9% of these cases result in bodily injury, and the mortality rate is more than 7% of the injured.
This 8 hour course will prepare the “first-due” company member to better handle a response to one of the most common hazardous materials releases.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Morning - Classroom
• Introductions
• Propane behavior
• Hydrometer demonstration
• DOT cylinder and valve familiarization
• ASME tank and valve familiarization.
Afternoon - Hands-On
• DOT and ASME valve connections
• Flaring operations
• Vapor dispersion drill
• Students will need bunker gear during the afternoon portion of the class.
